Skills for Success are skills that help you in a quickly changing world. Everyone benefits from having these skills. They help you to get a job, progress at your current job and change jobs. The skills also help you become an active member of your community and succeed in learning.
With our NEW interactive workbooks, you can discover and improve the skills you need for work and daily life. The workbooks are divided into 7 different skills and will help you get familiarized with the skill at hand. You will have the chance to work on all of the skills and be tested on your knowledge. At the end of each workbook, there is an answer key provided which will allow for self-evaluation and/or for teachers to get involved and evaluate student progress.
The story of skills for success
The Skills for Success, formerly known as Essential Skills, were identified and launched by the Government of Canada in May of 2021, updating the existing framework in response to an evolving labour market. These 9 skills are updated to reflect the rapidly changing skill needs and requirements.
In the updated framework two new skills have been introduced – Adaptability and Creativity & Innovation. The added skills to the framework represent the growing demand for socio-emotional skills from Canadian employers.
Some other changes include:
- Document Use being integrated into Reading, Writing and Numeracy,
- Oral Communication refined to Communication,
- Working with Others expanding into Collaboration,
- and Thinking Skills refined to Problem Solving.
Who are the skills for success workbooks meant for?
Both students and teachers are encouraged to use these workbooks in and out of the classroom. Teachers can utilize these workbooks by integrating them into the currently taught programs.. This is highly recommended as the workbooks are meant to complement existing curriculum and do not strictly correspond to grade, age and/or subject. They are the perfect way for individuals to develop and improve their skill levels.
